Though many of the jobs we take on simply need straight forward photography, some require a little more imagination. Though this sometimes presents a challenge, we love flexing our creative muscles and using our extensive digital skills to come up with images that are truly unique.
One job we recently took on that needed a little digital twist was the creation of the promotional image for a performance of Peter Pan. The client wanted a photograph that would really highlight the magic, the quality and the professionalism of the production, so called us in to create something truly special.
The brief
The image we were asked to create was going to be used on the promotional poster for the event as well as on tickets, advertising and DVDs. The client also wanted to be able to use the image in social media campaigns promoting the Anglia Region Theatre School, Newton Flotman, Norwich. As the photograph had to be suitable for a number of purposes, we spent some time coming up with a concept and a look that everyone was happy with.
The shoot
The star of the show was ten-year-old Isaac Looker who was to play Peter Pan in the ballet production at St Andrews Hall in Norwich. We had Isaac come into the studio and get dressed up in his costume. We then used professional lighting and a plain backdrop to capture a high quality portrait for use in the final image.
Once we’d got the portrait just right, we used our digital editing skills to blend the image with another of the night sky. The result seamlessly combines both pictures to create a single image that really captures the magic of the show.
The client was very happy with the result of the project and the photograph was used extensively to promote the show across a variety of platforms.
